As a Linux user I can say it's not meant for the average user.

Not just a gamer, my machine also serves files locally and as an FTP, folds protiens, is constantly editing and transcoding video and audio, runs vm's to test out new software/operating systems, blah blah blah. Far more than what the average user is doing. I don't want something that crashes constantly, but most people don't care about that, they just want that shiny taskbar. |

You're right, I did know that, and most everyone else does too, which is why Vista isn't selling |

Vista isn't selling because it brings very little new features, is loaded up the ass with drm, bloated, incompatible with everything, and has that one feature when MS accidentally disables your computer remotely on a suspicion it's pirated, and harms tens of thousands of innocent users, oops.
Average Joe wants something that works and gets him on the internet, he doesn't care if the taskbar is seethrough or if it has a supposed prefetching feature that is in fact just a coverup of inefficient memory usage, he just wants to check his email. |
