first of all it's not hardware you need it's software: software is aplications and stuff, hardware is the stuff that makes up your computer which you can actually touch.
secondly, do you have an antivirus or a firewall? if you don't this is bound to happen. if you know when this started then you could possibly try system restoring and hopefully your computer still won't remain infected.
you also need to get yourself an antivirus, which are easy to get full versions of free using bittorrents, i didn't tell you that.
if all else fails and you can't clean your computer then format it and make sure you have an antivirus and firewall before you connect to the internet.

I remember reading about keyloggers a long time ago.. Heh, I remember something about, they only keylog whenever you are connected to the internet? (Correct me if I am wrong) - If anything, disconnect your computers internet before entering any passwords/usernames, write them in a notepad really quick, then copy and paste into the login part.
then connect your internet back and push log in!
this is just a temporary way until you find out if you have a keylogger or not |

No, they can log you if you're not connected to the internet, they just can't "phone home" and send the keylogger's owner the log of what you've typed.

Just reformat your computer..
But download your Ethernet card driver, and put it on a usb stick before reformatting..
don't do what i did, downloading Driver magician and all this other stuff for reformatting, and putting it on a usb stick and forgetting you need to be connected to the internet to download the drivers.. lol the only thing that saved me from going to the computer shop to get the Ethernet card driver put in was a usb Ethernet connector cable that you can use dsl/broadband without needing a network card. ( bought it a long time ago for my older computer which did not have a network card) used it and got connected..

get rid of norton, use their uninstaller download on their site so help get rid of as much norton as possible, better still reformat and reinstall windows to get rid of it,
then use avg nod or another free antivirus thats been recommended,
use zonalarm or comodo as firewalls, they are free to use and much better than norton,
but whatever you use if you dont reformat do a virus scan with whatever new antivirus straight away,
and remember not to download shit from anyone at least not without scanning it first

oh yes a keylogger records every key stroke on the keyboard and writes it to a log text file whether you are online or not,
when you go online it can blast all everything you typed on your keyboard, bank account passwords and all
