|
|
When I start a search, on the next search, I almost always get three results.
Usually one has an insanely large (or large negative) value, and the other two have ?? for their values. Sometimes I can freeze the address with the numbered value, but I can NEVER freeze the ?? valued addresses. And I can't change ANY of the values.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the games I'm trying to use CE on being Flash...
Anyone else experience this? |

sounds like those addresses are write protected
I would not recomend forcing them to be write enabled unless you definately know what those addresses are doing _________________

Actually, it happens in the tutorial too:
1) I start tutorial.exe, and click Next to get to the first step
2) I attach CE to the tutorial.exe process
3) I do a standard 4bytes 32bit Exact Value first scan for 100
4) In the tutorial, I press Hit Me to lower it to 97
5) Back in CE, I do the same search via Next Scan for 97
6) I get exactly three results, instantly: (this is basically what always happens on my first Next Scan with anything)
Address:Value

Is CE not compatible with Vista or something?
Yet, it worked fine for the first couple days I used it...
EDIT:
Looks like running it as admin worked. Cool. Apparently I need to become more acquainted with Vista... -_- _________________

Truthfully, I'm kinda curious why it was working for a few days to begin with and then suddenly stopped, 'cause I just now ran it as admin.
...but, whatever. *shrug* _________________

Did you do what the link tells you to do so that CE can work in Vista now? _________________

don't know
try reinstalling CE if you haven't all ready,
or duel boot with xp,
apart from that can't help you here,
if you read the vista link and that dont help
if it was working ok then just started messing about tho I would go for a re-install _________________

Didn't even need to reinstall; right-clicking the main .exe and setting it to run under WinXP compatibility mode and Run As Administrator made it work fine. (so far =)
And I like Vista, so no dual-booting for me... =P _________________

No, that didn't help at all; I already had XP compatibility mode checked, before the problem even started.

It was setting it to always run as admin that made it work, apparently.
But anyway.
Will a mod please lock this topic?
It's just pointless post count uppage now... _________________

yes good idea
get it locked cos that just dont make sense,
I got it fixed with compatability mode then you say it dont work lock topic,
running as admin is always suggested
xp or vista you need admin privilages to make it work properly
if you want it locked PM dark byte and he will lock it,
better still you might as well have the whole thing removed then it will decrease our post counts _________________

Cheat Engine always needs to be run as admin.
If you're using Windows XP, it should be somewhere in the window that pops up after you right click and go to Properties. (step 2 down there)
If you're using Windows Vista, here's the exact steps:
1) go to C:\Program Files\Cheat Engine (or wherever you installed it)
2) right click Cheat Engine.exe, and click Properties
3) click the Compatibility tab in the window that pops up
4) check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose Windows XP
5) check "Run this program as an administrator"
6) click OK _________________
