2x 8500 hah, marketing. The cards will perform mediocre, SLI or not.
Look for 8800gt as another option, or just go for the cheapest and buy your own and pop it in.
e: and yes 2 would be faster. programs are quickly becoming very multithreaded and most modern games will take advantage of the quad core. |

Wait till the new 8800GTS 512MB, it will come out on the December 3rd, and the 1GB version later that month. Will cost around 300-350USD. Looking at the specs, it will be close or better then the 8800 ULTRA (when fully OC'ed). Specs are 650CC, 1625SC, 1940MC. _________________

I guess it would perform faster since of SLI and in certain situations, the quad core.
problems being
SLI is flaky at best in some games. Performance gains aren't always the case. 2 cards doesn't = DOUBLE THE FPS, the 8500's are slow anyway. another one isn't really going to help the cause all that much in newer games.
... and well, 1gb is slowly beginning to not cut it really. Battlefield, STALKER, Supreme Commander to name a few will gladly eat that alive.
Building your own is by far the best way when it comes to price. It's not hard. If worse comes to worse, you pay someone to do it. |

I hope it's not you that choose you're card.
@Daaamon: If you choose to go with the Q6600, do note that it produces a lot of heat, therefor if you choose to overclock it, you'll have to get another heatsink. The one that comes in the package is not powerful enough. I recommend the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, it's one of the best, take a look for you're self http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling/showdoc.aspx?i=2943&p=3 (They are using a quad extreme but still you'll see the difference.) _________________

Well, it still beats your card. Sure, current NVIDIA cards beats ATI cards, but it wasn't always the case, and it may change soon. Same goes to AMD. _________________
