How do I cheat?

Okay so I play a game called Illarion..it's run through a java client..
Now this game has no security whatsoever but, also not really many numerical values..
Anyway, I tried editing my gold qaunity..
I discovered the exact address and made sure it was the address of my gold qaunity of CE.
236F5D9C is the address for my copper coins..now this game has a cap at 250 for stackable items..so you can't input higher then 250 with one stack of coins..
So I change it to 250 and..Boom nothing happens..
Why is this not working? I freeze the address edit the value and nothing..but when I unfreez it, the value goes back to my original value of what it really is...
So why isn't this working..!?!?
Ideas?

well first of all, java and cheat engine don't mix very well. but second of all, that game is online and your probably not going to have any lucky hacking it because all the addresses are server sided...

Well isn't there a way to get around server sided?
A different memory logger perhaps?
I've heard of it on here I believe?
Any more suggestions?

You dont want to do any server sided stuff.
Try anything you can think of client sided.
If you fail, then use google and see what people are doing.
Pay no attention to seriously dumb replies like the one quoted below.

well if u try all the searches byte float doble ect. u will probley come up with a salution because the adress u got is probaly a fake

Hmm..a fake?
I'm pretty sure it was the right address..I tested ti thoroughly...
Isn't their a way to get around client sided/server sided things? Possibly using something other then CE?
