|
|
Here is how you renew your I.P. address, step-by-step.
1. Open up Notepad
2. Type in the exact text you see below:
echo ipconfig/flushdns
ipconfig/flushdns
echo ipconfig/release
ipconfig/release
echo ipconfig/renew
ipconfig/renew
exit
3. Save the text document as .bat that way, it changes to a Batch File
4. Run the File that says MS-DOS Batch File
5. Watch the black screen pop-up and exit
6. Your I.P. Address has been renewed!
NOTE: When the black screen pops up, your internet connection will not work, then it will work after it exits. I'm pretty sure this only works for Windows 98 and Windows XP. I'm not for certain.

A simpler method would be (( for dial up users only )) pull out your cord then put it back in. Each time you do that you will have a different IP address.....

That would depend on your ISP. Some will change (DSL companies and such.) each time you log out and dial back in. 56k is the same way as well. Other things like Cable (Comcast for one.) is set to your MAC address on your modem which forces it to stay if you log off and on. To get a new IP through Comcast, you have to stay disconnected for a period of time (used to be 24 hours, might be longer now) for your IP to expire.
