No duh... its probably a windows thing.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=112526
BEFORE YOU GO THERE: Is it a USB adapatber thing? Because if it is, plug it in, go to those two little computers in the right top hand corner, right click and clik on you router. It works like 10 percent of the time.

yes yes thats what i said... USB connecter/adapter
now go here: http://knowledge76.com/index.php/Wireless_Setup_Ubuntu_Breezy
if you have no encryption on your router choose 1
if you have a 10bit WPE encryption (needs a 10 digit password) choose 2
If you have a WPA encryption (hell if i know) choose 3
Thats all

mine was already set up when i installed Ubuntu maybe you got a shit wireless router LOL
Im suprised you havent even searched for your wireless router at the Ubuntu Forums website to see if anyone else had problems, or if you need to do some extended confirgurations.
EDIT: oh a USB wireless Adaptor, dont use one of them
