Well I saw some requests about a game called Well of Souls, which is free indefinitely and really allows you to kill some time.. But that was ages ago, now it's time to hack the crap out of it.

This little game is a hell lot more noob-resistant than you may think. If you're into hacking this game more than just taking the hacks I've already found, I strongly advice you to take a look at this topic: http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=136569&highlight=souls

Anyways, the game designer (called Dan) who made this game certainly wasn't born yesterday, but like most others, he lacked the time to perfect his anti-cheat engine (which consists of more than 1 part). Here's what I know already (some of these were passed on to me by others, so I won't take all the credit for it, I've found the addresses myself however):

1. Negated variables (specific reason = lol?)
Most variables like PP, XP and GP always have a negated variable of them. For example if you had 500 GP (gold points?!), you would have to search for both -500 and 500 in two different searches.



2. A cheap list
The game searches for window titles in the background. That's right, you can't surf on cheatengine.org! This list involves the following window-titles:

Wow! So the guy might had killed some time protecting this piece of protection system, but you can easily tell that he added these by himself. Note that you can avoid any of these window titles (wildcards?) simply by changing the window titles. I used to have a really good software that was extremely simple to use. But anyway.

3. You waited long enough..
Download the CT that I attached.. that's all you need I guess. XP Looks like it's easy to hack, but then the game will either just crash or 73da11c7 (or possibly some other address) will refer to address 00000004 or 00000008 which cannot be 'read'. Of course I don't mean to say that these are all the possibilities.. We still have the 999999 damage hack which I sadly haven't figured out yet.. Not to mention being able to change XP.. You were able to only one or two versions away, so clearly he must have added some hack-prevention as usual.

This game truly is a good challenge for both newbies and intermediates.

Edit: Cleaned my CT up abit and added the addresses for the weapon skill levels.. Not very hackable though (yet?)..

Edit Again: Added cheat variable (so you can cheat and revert back to non-cheating character) and did some more organizing.

Oh so it was Ollydbg.. Didn't recognize some of those fancy colors.

While we're on it.. I am extremely new to the whole debugging process, and I wonder what good OllyDbg serves me if I can't save the changes and can't continue running the game while I've got OllyDbg attached to it? I probably got something off the wrong foot here, so please enlighten me.

Yeah I've noticed it when I googled for some Well of Souls communities (obviously they were dead when I only found this new game). I don't feel encouraged to check it out though.. Half of the reason why is in this this

You can save changes in olly.

Weapon skill levels and Magic skill levels cant be directly changed anymore.
XP is easy to change.. But you will need a mem editor thats not detected (Modded Imp2 or CE)

Step by step for Imp2:
*Open 2 windows
*In one, search for the NEGATIVE value of your total xp, in the other the positive value. (If you cant get the right address the 1st time just kill something and search again for changed value)
*Change the NEGATIVE value first, to w/e you want (keep it negative), and then the positive value to the same number (but positive, duh)..
You can then see in WoS in your stats window what level you got to.. If you're happy with that, just kill a monster, and vuila.. If you are not happy just play arround with the XP values till you get the level you want..
Make sure to ALWAYS change the negative value first

Note: I suggest you dont change your level to 100 directly, do it to 99..
If you do it to 100 you wont get stat points! (though thats easily fixable)

This same process also works for changing pp..

Edit: Monk, I tried changing XP your way but it simply did not work, try yourself with my CT.

I use syscom engine and when I change some of the valus and freeze when I try to walk I get the error

Looks like I got banned from playing in multiplayer anyway.. Dunno if a new IP or a reinstall (although I reinstalled without rebooting) will help, but right now I honestly can't be bothered if I'm the only one who cares to hack this game.. One man is not enough for this anti-hack crap.

Duh? Changing the clock is common..

There's a way to tell for how long you're banned, forgot what each number represents..
Qvazzler, i just did the XP thing with Imposter2, so, maybe you did it wrong..
You can also move the clock back if you're banned for really long (;

Yeah it worked with Imposter2 for me ages ago so you're probably right. Perhaps it has to do with CE?

if doesnt work - remove the whole SYNTHETIC REALITY entry works
