I've been tooling around with CE and Star Wars Galaxies for about a week now and figured out how to do a few things a couple days ago. Nothing major or game breaking, but doing it myself without any help was a good step for me.
But now I noticed (as of yesterday), you can still enhance your stats through buffs but it doesn't register on your character sheet. It shows it through the buff window though. Now one would assume this has been changed and has been made server-side (the application of the buff) but I wonder, would it still be possible to change your stats through this buff window and have it show up on your character sheet?
Does CE have the ability to alter data server-side and still have it register on the client?
Thanks. |

Short Answer: No, cheat engine is a memory editor.
Long Answer: Again, no, cheat engine is a memory editor. The changes you are seeing are client-sided, meaning you (and only you) can see them. But sometimes games will screw up and store vital information in the client (basically they are taking the word of the client over that of the server: Client says you have 200 health, server says you have 100, so the server must be wrong and it gets changed to 200) which you then can manipulate with a memory editor. This turns the changes into server-sided because now everybody connected can see (and be affected by) the changes. |
