1. whats exactly the point of rep? i mean, just because theres a big/small number below your user name, Its not like just because you have -999 rep or sumn like that noones gonna talk to ya, neither will people praise you like a god if you have 100+ rep.

2. another thing is the sensitivity of rep, just beacuse you say something as insignificant as "I dont like you" youll get - rep, and if you fling even a microscopic compliment, I.E. "that trainer works well" youll get + rep.

if theres 2 things i dont get about the forums is the 2 above, mind filling me in here?

In most of the topics to buy sell and trade accounts you have to have certain ammount of rep, if you have negative, you dont really have a lot of respect if u have a lot you have a lot of respect, plus it means you have done a lot for the forums.

Example: In the runescape forums you have to have +1 rep 4 months of being a forum member, if you do not have any of these you can buy sell or trade accounts if you do... Well you can.

Rep is there to show that you contribute and help out. If someone likes something you have contributed to them, or the community as a whole, they show it by giving you +rep.

Where as if you just spam, post in the wrong sections, always put someone down, never have a good comment to contribute, etc. you might get -rep from people for being an ass.

It's there to show who contributes and who doesn't. Yes, the system isn't perfect for it, and yes it can be abused. Nothing is perfect. And your judgment shouldn't solely depend on someones rep level.
