Oh sorry, I was trying to cut corners again. Meant the message about trying float. When It's been obviously said that the value that should be tried is float or double, then another one says that it should be float, assuming that I wouldn't have tried float at that point is just weird. Just relays a message as if you thought the one you are giving an advice to is completely dumb. Well, that's how I felt. |
-You stated that you tried double, you did not state that you tried float for this particular value, so I reiterated the obvious. Oftentimes, while attempting to help others, we have to state the obvious and/or overly explain things (even our questions) for several reasons. We can't know what you have and have not done, what you understand and do not understand and/or what you know and do not know if you do not tell us. So, again, to save time, obvious statements and assumptions are sometimes necessary. Not only that, but sometimes, there are people that truly believe that they know what they're doing, and that their method or approach is correct - when in actuality, they are wrong. It is best to have an open mind and to welcome information, regardless of how trivial or pointless we deem it to be. If we disregard what people tell us or shut them out because we feel that they are making assumptions about what we do or do not know, we may not only miss out on a learning opportunity, but people may no longer care to help us with anything beyond that point. You have to consider the time and consideration involved for people that go out of their way to help you. Most importantly, you have to remember that you do not know everything.

Remember telling me to fiddle with different values for a script. Well I had already posted my findings about that. I've also mentioned another thing in recent messages which I do not care to repeat again. |
-This does not tell me anything and it does not help. You did not report your findings fully, and therefore, more information or instruction was needed.

If you think this necessary then you know, you could have simply asked: "What about Float?" There is no need to be condescending even if you are the helper.
I don't think I have in any post tried to confer that I know everything. Can you tell me where I make such suggestions? Since you talk about learning can you then explain to me how is it that knowing the value type helps you so much? Not one of my questions have needed this information I think but please enlighten me.

I reported my findings fully regarding that script and at the same time it told a bit of others. If there are things you do not understand from a post or you need something specific then it's customary to ask specifying questions because as you so emphasized, I do not know everything and cannot know what it is you are looking for. Your fiddling message wasn't at all clear about that.
But I guess none of this matters since you so obviously state that this is it for me. I just hope you learned some valuable new customs. When someone tries to outline problems in your approach in a civil manner, I don't understand why it's called trolling and why you gang up on them like this. Never was I trying to be disrespecting but the ones who need help deserve respect as well.

You continue to be defensive and argue with everything that is being said to you. Furthermore, you're responding to me with comments that were not made by me. I was not being condescending. I specifically indicated how float type pertains to your value and you chose not to address that. I simply reiterated the importance of that data type. Any condescension is a misinterpretation on your part.
No one is ganging up on you. Some people just have a higher tolerance for ignorance than others. Yes, that one was intentional for being purposefully obtuse.
