Yes and I say go with either the i5 or fx 4100 builds. The i5 because its better gaming than the i7 or the fx 4100 because of the better gpu.

Normally a cap of 120 - 200 depending on the game. Konr has this strange theory you need 120fps to play every game or its slow, and this is just not true. Take NFS The Run. The game developers have it capped to 30fps and it runs smoother than any game I have ever seen getting 120+ fps. Its just not necessary to have all games running at 120fps. I'd love to quote him but cannot find the thread in RS. But more or less he said if a frame rate dips even 1 frame it looks bad and this is untrue. 100 - 120 fps Its very slight difference, while 80 - 100 can be seen easily. But then the difference between 50 and 60 fps in many games is unnoticeable. Its when the frame rate dips below 50 that you can see it hard.

I don't know what Konr has said, but you DO need >100 fps in FPS(first person shooters) to play it properly. That's MY opinion. In games that require precision and fast reflexes you just can't afford any sort of un-smoothness at all.

That is not smooth though. 120+ at all times yes, 60+ at all times yes, but having around 100 at all times is not. Think about this. You have 100fps, suddenly the rate drops to 70. Thats going to look terrible for you. Where as if you always get 60+ fps and cap it there, not Vsync, cap, it can be more stable and stay smoother more often. FPS drops are going to happen no matter how great your system is if its online, or something big happens.

So after a lot of thinking, I have decided to build one myself. Thank you Hero for contributing so much towards this post and telling me what is good and what is bad.

I have set up two options, both for fraps & gaming.

Option 1:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3330 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (€172.89 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Motherboard: ASRock B75M-GL Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (€60.26 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€40.28 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€59.48 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB Video Card (€152.85 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Case: Xigmatek Asgard II Black ATX Mid Tower Case (€37.49 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 450W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (€53.52 @ Amazon Deutchland)
Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer (€21.69 @ Amazon Deutchland)

Option 2:

Case: Antec 300 - 50,40 €
PSU: Corsair CX600 - 62,60 €
Motherboard: Asrock H77 Pro 4 - 79,79 €
CPU: 3.2GHz Intel Core i5-3470 - 174,00 €
RAM: 8GB-Kit G.Skill Ares PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24 - 36,62 €
HD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM - 68,79 €
Optical: Lite On Bulk DVD Burner - 18,96 €
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 - 185,84 €

Total: 677,00 €

If you could help me choose, that'd be great. Thanks Smile

I'd go with build 2, but seagate barracuda are known to not last long. I'd try to spend on a samsung spinport F3 or a Western digital caviar black, or blue at least. Spin port is owned by seagate now but they are the same high quality samsung hard drive.

spin port is the same price in pounds but I see you use euros and I honestly do not know the difference. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=

definily get a 7850

As you can see the 7850 is about as strong as the 6950. Thats a good deal of power over that 6870 in build 1.
