I'd say meeting a friend that you live with is a pretty big thing. That and how much it probably shaped his personality and helped his confidence or whatever when he went to LAN events and was talking to people a lot due to the community based part of TF2 that he was a part of. Whether the time you spent gets you money, skills, friends, or make who you are I don't think it matters at all as long as that time you spent doing that thing is time you spent being happy.

Considering the fact that you can see that I'm not comparing THE THINGS THAT YOU BOTH GOT OUT OF YOUR ACTIVITIES, I don't see why it bothers you.

You did something with your time when you were younger that you enjoyed and happened to learn a lot from, which ended up getting you far in your life

He did other things in his life and one of those things was use his free time in the evenings to play a video game competitively with a few friends (including myself) online. He still has all the other shit he did in his life and he had fun playing this game.

I don't really see what you're trying to say here, like, honestly.

so what was the purpose of making that comparison? all it does is misleadingly draw a comparison between me and him. past that, you don't seem to be making a point. in fact, it seems you just started talking smack for the hell of it. is that what you've been doing?
