I'm disappointed in you young-ins.

Where to begin....

Command.com != cmd.exe
It is an older version, you'll find small differences in the commands you can do, and quite possibly find yourself confused. Though it is still a shell

cmd.exe can be deleted, it's not really needed, and not required to access a shell anyways.

OK, what can you do with cmd? First of all start off by researching.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cmd.exe

PLAY at home. Totally rip your computer to shreds, learn how to fix it, rinse repeat. No joke, best way to learn an OS.

Don't make bets your not sure you can keep. That should extend to being a primary rule in life...

In addition to the "/?" switch, you can use this syntax for information on certain commands. "command /?". Pretty simple. Though the info you get is really crappy compared to linux Man pages http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_pages

Now the most effective way to gain access to command prompt would be to code up your own in c++ or something. With some programming knowledge and a good understanding of the windows command line it's really easy.

Don't try out any of the noob **** posted about batch files at school. You'll only be punished.

i believe they can track it to u if log in using your account

I doubt that a school tracks every students move on the PC, all the time. If it really has to track whatever he's gonna put into the command prompt window, then who's gonna read it? This is not harming anyone, it's just basic turning off the PC. So even if it is logged, there really shouldn't be anything 'dangerous' about it :]

It's very easy to track a person on a computer, and pretty much automatic with GPs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_Policy
Also Thing's popping up in event viewer can all be sent to a specific server for an admin to review, it's pretty simple, though I wouldn't expect any school admins to have the knowledge for it.

for some reason, remote shutdown doesn't work... firewall maybe?

Disabled in the security policy because they aren't complete brainless monkeys.

Best bet is to code your own shell interface, and it's defiantly a lot more rewarding and something to "show off".

p99 -> The school I went to, some years ago did not track anything at all. It was just to scare people they told us that if we did anything, we would get tracked down. I admit I don't know as much as you seem to, but don't call me a fucking noob just because I tell him that I never got tracked down. Obviously he should know the consequences he might encounter for doing this.
