| I saw this on their website, they're just a search engine; not really a hoster.

Does it matter if TPB loses? There are still thousands of torrent sites out there.

Yes, there trying to make an example out of them. It obviously will not work because there site is still running and torrenting. I'm glad they got fucked over, not for them but for the government. It shows they don't have total control over what we can do.
They where not doing anything illegal. It's like LimeWire, it's not the service providers it's the material provides that deserve to be put in jail. They are taking the risk of uploading the illegal content.

What moderator says:
They're getting sued for 30mil SEK, which is $3 000 000~.

What do you suppose they can be doing except fining the thieves?

Why waste your time and resources finding the thieves when you can set up a straw effigy, just to tear it down?
... and probably make the same amount of money, no less.

TPB thought they were safe
.1 because they are in swendon, and being sued from hollywood doesn't work
.2 they weren't hosting illegal files (which is illegal), the hosts were the people who had the files originally
too bad they got found guilty, but it is far from over as their will be appeals
their website also leads to this website http://blackouteurope.eu/ which is kindia grim....

| Quote: | The damages were awarded to a number of entertainment companies, including Warner Bros, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI, and Columbia Pictures.
However, the total awarded fell short of the $17.5m in damages and interest the firms were seeking. |
They shouldn't have been fined even 1 freakin cent.
