mines apparently 10mb/s but i download at 600kb/s maximum...
in the uk they dont offer such high speed internet to the public
EDIT:
^ my speed test
for some reason i never ACTUALLY get those speeds though |
You have to divide the speed you get by 8, to get the actual one.
Also, to the guy who has comcast, how much does it cost? |
Dam I only get 25kb/s, dam you people .
My computer sucks. |
Or it could be that another user is also downloading stuff from your LAN service.
Or there are just many users downloading that one file.

| I use AT&T Internet. I get 300 KB/sec and pay $20 per month. How the hell is 324KB not enough? At my speed, I can download 700GB of content in a month if I download 24/7, but I only download like 100GB a month. If you don't wanna wait, only way is to pay more or download during your sleep. If you plan on switching, make sure your Internet Provider doesn't have bandwidth limits. Some ISPs give you like a 2MB/sec connection but you can only download 20GB and it's $1.50 for every additional GB.

Well not so much the "actual" one but you're on the right track.
The speed your ISP tells you, as well as the speed most speed tests will tell you is in kilobits per second. The speed your download manager will tell you is in kilobytes per second. There's 8 bits in a byte, so that's why they're different. |
I know that, I was trying to get a point across without explaining extra stuff. =/
