Hmm then I have the 1st gen, I have the 640mb version but it's still good! 
Only game I havent been able to run on maximum settings is Crysis
Aren't sound cards integrated into the mobo already?
At least mine is... |

ok first of all get a ati card not nvidia.
i compared my sapphire ati hd 2600xt 256mb ddr3 to a 512mb ddr3 nvidia 8600 and ati won by far.
so id get a sapphire HD 2900 xt
ill post on prosseser later but a intel core 2 duo does best(my opinion for price)
ill post more later if you like my opinions |

The first thing you said is correct, when you talk about mid range graphic cards. There's is no way you can say the same thing when you talk about high end cards.
Sorry, 8800GT 512MB > HD 2900XT 512MB

My dad's computer has an HD 2900XT 512mb, and its great; but not as great as a 512MB 8800GT. Nuginu is way off course when it comes to comparing video cards.
