Reasons for "needing" a gun:

1) "I need to protect my family!" Against WHAT? When was the last time some dude broke into your house trying to cause harm? American's are fucking paranoid about this shit, as if crime is widespread as fuck and they could be next. I blame sensationalist news. If you have a gun in your house, you're actually putting your family in more harm, because more often than not, a young person harms themselves or someone else with a gun before it's used to protect the family.

2) "If someone has a gun, and you don't, you lose" In any kind of altercation in which someone pulls a gun on you, you're already out of options. If someone is aiming a gun at your head, then there's not enough time to pull out your own. If that's not the case, then there are a large number of powerful, non-lethal means to incapacitate someone without the need to blow them to bits.

3) "We need them in case the government needs to be overthrown" Top. Fucking. Kek. This might have been the case when the 2nd amendment was introduced. If all the people had muskets and that shit, the government would have to work for them, because an uprising would be difficult to put down. That's why we escaped Britain, because it was the time of big wooden ships and gunpowder and muskets.

Today, the goverment could fry you and your entire "army" from space, if they'd like, they could blow you up with drones, they could watch you and everyone on of your soldier's every move from above. You're not winning any wars with your handguns and rifles, those days are long over, and you're lying to yourself if you believe the people could ever mount a violent revolution to protest a corrupt government in America at this point.

4) "The right to bear arms is in the constitution! It's part of the Bill of Rights! We can't change that!" Except the whole point of the constituion is that it's a living document, and can have amendments. So, we definitely can do it, slap an amendment 28: repeals amendment 2 and we're done. It's not like because they came up with the idea when they founded the country that it has to remain the same forever.

tl;dr: No one really needs guns, American's just have an unhealthy obsession with them, which is why we have so many massacres.

yea let me put my gun in a safe and then when someone breaks in ill just run up stairs, unlock it, and then pull it out and load it and turn the safety off

you could go on a massacre with a nail gun or chainsaw or whatever, but none of them are nearly as efficient or as easy as guns. theres a reason why guns exist and wars are fought with them instead of nail guns and chainsaws, because they're the most efficient tools at killing people quickly

i dont support taking away guns though, the world is more exciting with shootings etc.

I don't understand the obsession Americans have with guns. Why do you need them so badly? Is it the thought that somebody else has them, so you have to have one too, or else you're not safe? It's incredibly tard. Are you not seeing the never-ending loop you're in?

I have 4 guns, I have never been convicted of a crime. I live in a rural area, I have never shot at or injured anyone with them. I have no intent on doing so.

Why is it soo hard for you to understand that weapons can exist in a society when they are enforced and regulated.

I can way more efficiently create a bomb and kill hundreds of people and depending where thousands of people.

And you said it yourself we are in one of the safest times in history
and that is with guns, not having them isn't going to change a thing
