Books that I would recommend you: Croatian tales from long ago ( probably the most original stories that include fairies and giants ignore fact that it has Croatian in its name ) > Some short stories from Hans Christian Andersen ( e.g Girl with matches ) > The brave adventures of Lapich > 20 000 miles above the sea > Decmeron, Crime and punishment, Father Goriot

Also there is " > " at the start of the list between names of the books because I've tried to make chronological order how I read them.
It amazes me how you keep jumping at every chance to promote your shitty country

Elaborate on how Croatia is shittier than Poland.
Do you see me praising Poland in half my posts?

@M. Because I have read only famous literature from world known authors for which he probably already knows and Croatian authors. There are only couple of Croatian books that are original and one of those books is "Croatian tales from long ago". Funny thing is that word "Croatian" is added in translation but those stories are actually old-Slavic.
Also you know what Dante said "Traitors of their country are set in 9th circle of hell", hell has 9 circles and the bigger the number is the closer you are to devil and your soul will have less room and it will roast more.

@Brolock You can download whole book from here: https://archive.org/details/croatiantalesofl00brli
I hope that you'll like it. I have read all 8 stories when I was 10, so maybe you'll find them shitty because of your age.
My opinion:
Father Goriot > Crime and punishment
Rastignac > Raskoljnikov
because I feel that author has put much more effort into emotional fall
Father Gorio's ending > Crime and punishments ending

Croatian representative of European realism would probably be In registry office (U registraturi) It is meh book and it seems that it isn't translated to English which means that you are spoiler free and I love to talk about books Smile .
Young boy (Ivica) goes to town to college. Village priest and that kids teacher forced his father to let him go to town where he found sponsor, Mecena who got married for Laura (we will later find out that that was his daughter). Main character Ivica becomes friend with his wife/ daughter Laura. Laura poisons Mecena and someone accidently burns his property... Laura and Ivica move together in his house in the village... She cheats on him in church, she kills wife of that guy with whom she has cheated Ivica and moves in his house. She later kills that guy too... At his wedding, Laura kidnaps bride and kills 3 people. Later they have found bride dead in the forest. She gets caught and publicly executed. Ivica ( smart, educated boy from village ) starts working in registry office. One day he spills alcohol on everything and burns whole registry office down with himself inside.

i read The Inferno like 2months ago, the lower circles of hell actually get colder. at the final level people freeze progressively based on their actions, some will be able to speak, some only see, some completely encased in ice.
and the devil has 3 faces, juxtoposition of the 3 parts of god: the trinity. and in 2 of them he is eating brutus and cassius, and in the third is judas for betraying jesus
