| Selling anything at all in real life for a decent amount of money is something you should bring friends to.

carrying a weapon is fucking retarded. not only is it illegal in certain places (such as uk), shit is more likely to escalate and you're going to get hurt. thinking carrying a weapon will help you is childish thinking and thinking giving a scrawny kid a knife to hold for his own protection is foolish and naive thinking at best
see more here:

to quote from that site i found after 5 seconds of a google search:

Here are the possible consequences of carrying a knife
- You have a false sense of security
- You kill someone
- You injure someone
- You attract trouble and get stabbed yourself
- You get arrested for carrying a knife
- You end up with a criminal record
- You end up in prison
|
the stupid thing that was done in this case was being greedy and trying to sell in real life. there is a risk involved that can easily be avoided by selling online. it doesn't mean you're a 'pussy', just that you don't want to risk your health for trivial amounts of money

Glad you pointed that one out, it didn't even occur to me that a weapon would only provide a false sense of security.
As for trading GP for real life cash in person, I just didn't think anyone would be as stupid as to make an attempt to pull off a theft anonymously.
Something neat happened today though! So after the incident of the theft, I made no further contact with the person. Instead, I went to the police. That was yesterday.
Today, the culprit called me asking why I got the police involved. I said a few things about his theft, what I was charging him for, his criminal record, his entire family getting blacklisted by the city police, a bit of concise evidence, and I could tell by his voice that I left him shivering. After my nag, he said I had no life, and hung up abruptly.

Well, anonymous in a sense that they leave no traces of their real information behind. Yeah we're meeting in person, but you could still stay anonymous to an extent by providing zero details of yourself and assuring that there isn't any audio or video recording going on. Oral evidence means nothing to the police.
Thief, oops, lol. Thanks for pointing that out.

| Okay well, here's the thing: the guy made an attempt to pull this off anonymously. The attempt began when he sent me the initial email through his alias email address. The attempt was progressed further when texted me via his cell, but not his real cell number, possibly one assigned to him that allowed ONLY texting, whilst calls are disabled. The attempt was then REALIZED when he tried to call his pal. It didn't work because the VOIP service he was using was still on, he had just forgotten about it being on. His identity was then REVEALED when he borrowed my cell phone to call his buddy, who was using a real phone number. The realization was later further enforced when he reverted his phone back to its original state in order to make a call to another buddy of his.

He made it anonymous until he borrowed my phone to call his friend.
He's stupid because his original intention was to remain anonymous through the entire ordeal. He failed within minutes.
