I bet we create an artificial sun and moon, attach rockets to earth, then use it as a space ship.

We would only freeze to death the moment we get a few miles away from the sun.

We would only freeze to death the moment we get a few miles away from the sun. | Which is why we'd have created an artificial sun. How else do you think we'd get the energy to propel the entire earth?
But the rockets will need some extreme cooling around them, so we'd also need the technology to contain sub-zero temperatures.

So we just like... Have a sun on a leash... And spin it around...

If we'd have trouble gathering the energy required to move a planet, how do you suggest we make an artificial star? That is, if you mean artificial in the sense of a microwave rather than a fire.

Yes, but you didn't seem to read what I had. You say we'd get energy from an artificial star to power the rockets; but what would power this? You specified the need for technology that contains sub-zero temperatures, but not for the ability to create an incredible source of power, or the rockets themselves-- this is understandable. What I don't get, is how we'd be able to make a star without knowing how to get energy from other sources.

Obviously if we have the technology to create a star, we'd have the ability to power anything.
I don't know what in the gadzooks made you to believe it was some sort of giant light-bulb or something that required constant power.
And fuck you, it's in a thousand years... we will have created magic by then for all I know.

Nuclear fusion is sorta kinda like creating an artificial star.

That's what I'm getting at; if we have the power to create a giant mass of constant energy (by the way, it's more likely we'll know how to draw energy from the air than be able to form a giant mass capable of creating energy) we have the power to create an engine that doesn't need a star for power. And I didn't, I assumed it was either a light-bulb or a mass similar to a real star... either way, you seem to be saying we'll get the hardest thing done long before the simple one. And by the way, I never doubted it, I was wondering why the hell you had specified the need for a sub-zero container and decided not to do the same for the star and giant Earth rockets.

This. Plus the output with nuclear fusion is greater than the input. We'd have unlimited energy.
