I have absolutely no need for a bigger hard drive.
My hard drive is only 80gb and I'm currently only using around 20gb, and a lot of that is junk I'm too lazy to delete.

Closest I can get with the $300 budget. Could do alot better with $400 though, if you want to. Do note that some of the parts are on sale, so prices may change soon.

/Don't need a tower
/Don't need a hard drive
Feel free to improve with 53$ more.

For 400,

~25 more for 4 gb ram, g skill
~50 on a regular 5750
~10 for Athlon II x3
~10 for 500 gb HDD

I would spend the extra money.
Yeah, that $400 alternative would be leagues ahead of the $300 one.

MSI 740GM-P25 AM3 AMD 740G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI R5670-PD512 Radeon HD 5670 512MB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card with Eyefinity

GeIL Value 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Desktop Memory Model GV32GB1066C7SC

@elpacco All i really want is a computer that can run Combat Arms smoothly, even on min settings.

However much you like combat arms now dude, you're going to look into other games once you get bored of it, and some games require higher specs than others.

On that build that you've posted, your biggest bottleneck is probably memory, go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144461

Apart from that, everything else is good.

Dump the Athlon II x2 and 5670, get these two instead:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161309
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103871

Would improve performance greatly. Also, are you sure you won't need a new HDD? Given the age of your current machine it may still be using IDE connectors (optical drive as well), in which case it would leave you very little room to expand, as most MoBos today do not include IDE connectors.

They only include one connector that supports only TWO devices at once. Only two IDE/PATA

I may be able to raise to a 400$ budget, if it would really help then go for it.

Should be good for at least 1-2 years, much longer if you don't play other high demanding games (Crysis, BC2, Metro, Dirt 2, etc...). Went over the budget by $4 though, but taking a step down to a 5770 seems too wasteful. You can probably sell off your old hardware on Ebay or Craigslist too, should be more than enough to cover the extra $4.

I'm sure it will last much longer then 2 years considering I don't plan on playing any high end games. In fact, I don't plan on playing any games other then free online games.

Just as a quick note, if you happen to have local computer stores near you (Microcenter, Frys), you can easily save on shipping expenses and potentially find better deals.

I went with Phox's 400$ alternative,
I just need an operating system.
