You can start loading a video or something on Android and switch to something else while it loads.
I don't own an iphone, so I'm just going by what I've heard. |
Oh yes that's right.
iPhone is limited to what can be done in the background. It can only use GPS, download off internet, play music, VOIP calls from memory.
EDIT: I totally missed someone earlier by accident asking which carrier I had.
I am currently using TPG which uses the Optus Network.

| Android's apps pretty much suck right now, but with flashplayer coming and all it would be stupid to get anything else.

There's a million apps for everything you can think of pretty much. I already have flash, some phones already have 2.2.
The most creative one I've seen so far is somehow using the camera as a heart rate monitor.

Well according to verizon the only phone so far that has flashplayer is the incredible, which doesn't sound right, so I'mma assume that they're wrong.
And yeah, Android has the potential for tons of great apps, it's just somewhat new and needs time for people to readjust to java and stuff.
I liked the metal detector one, I don't even know how that works, bounces sound off of metal I guess.

I'm fairly certain flash is available to Android 2.1+, if not, you can download it from the marketplace...
I have a friend with a HTC Desire (AMOLED version) and his mainscreen has that clock with cool weather effects such as clouds, rain and wipers, sun etc in a really cool way. I was wondering if that is available on the Desire HD which runs Android 2.2 Froyo.
To be honest, I am sooo close to deciding on the Desire HD but I went through its marketplace and got a little sad.
Android has soooo much potential to own Apple or Microsoft or any mobile company in fact if it just able to find more willing developers. I think the main reason why i was disappointed was not because there weren't good applications, but because there is lots of bad looking applications.
When I was flicking through, there was applications written in Asian, other weird names and more. I did identify plenty of good applications which I know from being on iOS and know for being larger in the community. I think the reason why I see this in Android is due to the fact the Apple has to check all there applications and they usually Ban hammer everything.
Maybe Apple's restrictions aren't so bad after all. If there is already so many applications on iOS that are great, imagine if there were no restrictions, there would be millions of horrible apps, advertisements, virused applications making the appstore look as if it is filled with lots of low quality, basement made applications which I kind of saw in Android.
I feel what I'm saying about Androids market place is a bit harsh but just had let it out.
I WANT MORE SEXY ANDROID APPS!!!!!

I was going through www.gsmarena.com and found that they have an awesome Phone Finder which I recommend to anyone. After I completed my query, here were the Results.
I am currently thinking between the iPhone 4, HTC Desire HD and Motorola Droid X. I'm not sure if any networks here in Australia offer CDMA so Droid X probably isn't an option. Again i'm stuck between iPhone 4 and HTC Desire HD. |
It is physically impossible to use all of the apps the App Store provides anyway. The Android Market has nearly 100,000 applications which is PLENTY, not to mention the iPhone has been out for nearly two years longer than the first Android smart phone. People that like the iPhone over Android smart phones because of the size of the Market/App Store are quite idiotic, in my opinion.
I have used several Android phones over the past year, including the G1, myTouch 3g, Nexus One, and the myTouch Slide. I currently have a Samsung Vibrant, which is another Android Smart phone, and I love it. Almost every aspect of the Android Operating System can be customized to meet your own likes, which is one of the many reasons I love it.
As for the phones you are looking at right now, I would probably go with the Desire HD. HTC builds great quality devices and the past four phones I've had were all HTC. I used the Nexus One for awhile, which is the US version of the Desire, and it is probably my favorite phone yet. It is extremely well built and most everything about it is great.
That's my 2 cents, but the decision is up to you.

I agree with you except for the me being idiotic for liking iOS's appstore.
I have a few friends with iPhone 3GS' who all let me play around with there phone every once in a while if we get bored. There are sooo many cool applications. I go through the iTunes to look at the apps and there are sooo many that I will find useful/entertaining/cool to have.
When I went through the Android marketplace, there were a few applications I liked, but not as much as the appstore.
