You're over-analyzing the situation. You did something that pretty much anyone with a pulse would know how to do, you don't need to charge your family for something so simple.
$20-$40 for something that should take less than 10 minutes to fix? Are you insane? It's your family, and you're being greedy as fuck, and trying to take advantage of them.
