Depending on your team it usually takes around 40 minutes if they go for a full attack.
Also, if you like being a DPS, use Twisted Fate or Master Yi since they can basically carry the team. :3 |
Twisted fate is good DPS/Support.
Master Yi can get squishy.
Some really good low-elo starts are, Jax/Ryze/Eve/Twitch, people will rage

I'm usually either ranged DPS / kiter with mild support(disabling/CC), assassin(though I wouldn't do that until I know all the classes well for good target choosing), or support(Heals and CC).
Suggestions for those?

Twisted Fate, Eve/Twitch/Shaco, Taric/Janna
These are just my opinions. KMC might know more.

Uziel, if you'd like to begin a new RTS that's like DotA, then pay 30$ and start out with HoN. LoL is just way too inferior to DotA to be as enjoyable as HoN.
For example, they've taken out a key and 'fun' aspect of DotA from LoL; denying creeps. Denying a creep gives the other hero 25% of the creeps experience(or some percentile, not sure of it).
It's also just a 'kiddie' version of DotA.
If you'd like a more 'hard'core and more pleasing experience, to be perfectly honest, start with HoN.

Aye, but I was told by friends that play HoN that I should try out LoL or DotA first to make sure I want to spend the money. As stated in the original post, I haven't played DotA before anyway, so I won't know what I'm missing

Then play DotA to get a feel to it.
I really hope you do not condone your time to LoL. However it's your choice.

Sorry for not posting sooner, I passed out at around 7PM last night.
For a ranged DPS/kiter, I'd go for Ashe or Kayle.
Ashe has frozen arrows, pretty obvious there.
Kayle has a nuke that slows people down, and a skill that makes her attacks ranged + splash. Kayle also has a healing spell that can boost movement speed, making her slightly better for kiting when you have your ranged skill up.
As for assassins, there would be Evelynn, Twitch, or Shaco.
Evelynn is probably one of the closest to an assassin you will get in this game, (60s stealth, stun, large nuke, plenty of DoT, lots of speed)
Twitch is a bit more of a ranged DPS, but he has a 60s stealth, and 2 skills that give him a LOT of attack speed. You're going to be dealing a lot of damage in a short period of time with him, paired up with stealth, seems like an assassin to me.
Shaco has some pretty good burst damage, as well as the move Deceive, which allows him to teleport and stealth for about 4 seconds or so. He's an assassin to me.
If you want a support with heals and CC, go for either Taric or Alistar.
Taric has a very good heal, his heal will heal both you and your target for the full amount on the skill, or if you only use it on yourself, you get 40% more of the health. He has a pretty neat stun that works differently from most skills, the closer you are to the target, the more damage it deals, the farther you are away from the target, the longer the stun.
Alistar has some pretty good moves, but he's a bit harder to play. He's a really good support/tank, but don't expect to get a whole lot of kills with him. He has an AoE heal that heals pretty low, but considering how many it can heal, it's not bad. He has other moves that smash people into the air, and a move that bumps people forward. He can be really fun if you manage to smash people in the air, run around them, and bump them either into your team mates or into a tower. Alistar is OK, but I wouldn't recommend him until you start to get better. Alistar relies a A LOT on his team, so if you have a crap team, you're going to play crappy.
