Gogodr you're so, so wrong. It says it can't sync with the steam cloud and it won't let you connect to servers, but you will be able to play, still
Also Hero they do have dedicated servers actually. A lot of server companies buy Valve servers and a lot don't. TF2Lobby was having issues the other day because the Valve servers were down, and by default TF2Lobby gets a random Valve server for you.

I thought tf2 just had people host their own. I know CSS is liek that. Either they had it set up or there is a guy whos ping is 1. That guy being the server holder.

You can't just join a server hosted by valve as such, but server sellers buy the server 'spots' originally from Valve, a lot of the time. It's better to have a dedicated instead though, due to Valve's problems and second rate servers.

I have no idea what you're talking about konr, server sellers like gameservers.com and shit use SRCDS hosted on different machines for the servers.
