Radeon-HD-5870.25103.0.html

Looks like the kind of laptop that I'm looking for. Are there any others that are in par or better in terms of performance to this?

nope, 5870M is the top at this moment.
Err in 3 more days Alienware will release the MX11, featuring CULV core2duo and 335M GT for around 1,000 USD, (is a netbook for fuck sake)

If you're using this for school, you're going to need at least 2 full hours of battery life (provided you are only using it for one class), and then keep it off the entire day and turn it on for just that class. I mean, what are you going to say to your teacher, sorry I can't work for the last fifteen minutes of class every day because my laptop has shitty battery life? All high performance laptops are just plain stupid because
1. Whenever you play a game you need it on a solid surface with a mouse attached so you might as well have a desktop anyway
2. They never run for longer than about an hour at most and then you again have to plug them back in which leaves them stationary, whereas you might as well again just have a desktop
Whenever you buy any laptop, the number one priority is always the battery life. Always. You don't need an amazing laptop to do 3d rendering. Sure you could blow everyone else in your class away by being able to render 5 times faster, but then, by the time you're done you have used more than half your battery.

Stop trying to get something like an alienware. Really, for your purposes, that name should make your veer away from a product.

Just as i told you about the MX-11, is out bitches.
6 hour battery life in no gaeming mode
1hour max at gaeming
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=eep&cs=6097&eep_orig_cs=6097&oc=DKCWMN1&link_number=17970705
save another 50dollar by signing up Dell EPP
also, the ASUS gaeming laptop is also ready for pre-order
http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g73jha1-order-p-2731.html

honestly, if OP doesn't play vidya gaems, or have a actual desktop, i would just buy a netbook
edit: also the ASUS laptop has 3hour battery life during non extreme task
I doubt any faggot care about more than 4 hour battery life, or someone who travels to third world country and have the nearest plug is 50mile away
