Um... the actual chronological order would be C, C++, C#...
Although it was derived from C and C++, it's purposes are more dependent on Microsoft's .NET. It kinda reminds me of Java, except not shitty.

I'd second Python for the general purposes language for little stuff. It's amazing how much stuff it provides. Anyway, if you wanted to learn a language, I wouldn't suggest Python, because everything would be there already. I'd suggest something very harsh language like C so you get to know how things tick.

Vb Is good For Starters,
C and C++ are for those who knows kodding (At least a little bit)
Most Of the Veteran Codders use C and C++
i offer You to start from Vb and go to C++ after you learn the basics

Them kodders once knew nothing about C++. If you have the time, you can become a pretty decent kodder. Kodding in VB won't help you.
