| In my experiences, I think it's rare to get caught or they're just too lazy. I've never been caught.

your isp likes your money, they generally will not take real action unless they absolutely need too

Of course! and also why would they ban me from them? My home phone,Cellphone,TV,internet line is with them. Look at the money they lose.

| When you say "legal in canada". What does that imply? And if where to set up a server in canada to download the torrent, THEN ftp/http download to file dirctely from the server. whould that be legal?

Wrong. Regardless of my knowledge about Canadian copyright laws... I know for a fact if an American downloads something illegal from a country were it is legal, it is still ILLEGAL.
Also, torrents are legal.

i think i got caught, they havent sent a warning, but my internet disconnects when i try to torrent, a while back there was that list of what ISP's that allow torrenting, mine did, but it wouldnt let me seed

Bottlenecking is common with ISPs
