The only reason anyone would be dumb enough to use it is because it will most likely be mass marketed. | This.

It's good for people who want their OS to boot in about 3 seconds and people who only use the internet and no other programs. | It sounds like a good idea, just like communism, but in practice it will never work. |
Why not? I'd certainly like to have an OS which boots straight to a browser. Currently I have to wait for Windows to load, then i have to log in, wait for background processes and services to start and then open my browser.
All I use when I'm out is Google Wave and Google Docs so it's pretty perfect for me.

You can download things. It's still a netbook. I've got PC's and laptops at home on which I can play games and do whatever else I want. ChromeOS is perfect for working on. Not everyone uses their PC's for leisure.

Well, if it is open source someone might be able to do this: make the desktop a program you have to load. SO;
- You turn on your computer
- 5 seconds pass
- You're online
- You check your mail, you check "your" forum
- You play some flash games and then you decide to do some "heavier" stuff like photoshopping, playing MMORPG'S, Play regular games, Animate etc.
- So you click the "Desktop" button
- 15 seconds passes
- It loads up the desktop, "hides" the web-based OS(disables it w/e, and kinda loads up a new one) and then loads up the programs you have on your pc.
Since "Chrome OS has nothing stored on your computer" you have lotsa' space for other stuff, kinda like a built-in "os-changing" or atleast a mode-changing feature changing it from web-based to HardDrive-based.

Now that I think about it, Chrome OS [may] be useful for dualbooting. Let's say I wake up in the morning, and forgot to post in an online discussion board for English class at my school. Now, would I want to open Chrome OS or Windows?
Either way though, I highly doubt I'll download Chrome OS. If I do, I doubt that I'll even use it regularly.

It's NOT for normal computers, only specifically designed google netbooks can run chrome, plus the OS can only be installed on an SSD not a normal HDD

It really makes me wonder, if the computer itself isn't really used. (HDD not used etc)
Wouldn't this be better suited as a mobile operating system, on a smart phone or something?

It takes me ~30 seconds to boot up and get on the internet with Win 7.

| Sony beat Google to it with PCs, if you press the web button, it goes straight to the splash-top internet browser without even having to boot up(I've had this laptop for a little over 4 months now too)

The majority of people on this forum wouldn't use it and would be against it because we do a lot more than the "average" computer user. I know plenty of people at my school that would love to have a computer like this since the only thing they do is Facebook/MySpace.
