Since your first choice was a Dell mini which is a netbook
How about a Compaq mini 311?
In the US it's called the HP mini 311.

Thanks, but that has the exact same specs as the Dell mini. Also, I don't particularly like mini laptops. |
Even if you don't want it, but
did you even look at the specs carefully? |
I looked at the specs very carefully... it's the same. |

yea dude its not really a good laptop. the 160gb space is good but the RAM is bad and its not even dual processor. how much Ghz does it have |
Ghz is 1.6. :\
I'd probably need to buy an external hard drive eventually if I bought that with only 160gb. |
forget the external hard drive. you have good hard drive space but the RAM and Ghz just fails. but if you poor then you should still get it, just don't download crap on it or it will lagg like hell. |

You need glasses...
Anyway here are the differences between the Dell Mini 10v and the Compaq Mini 311
Note: Any differences from the Compaq will be written in blue.
Dell Mini 10v (copied from your post)
OS: Windows XP SP3*
Processor: Intel Atom Processor N270 (1.6GHz/533Mhz FSB/512K cache)
Memory: 1GB DDR2 SDRAM*
Video Card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950
Hard Drive: 160 GB, 5400RPM SATA
Wireless: Wireless 802.11g (1397) Mini Card
Camera: Integrated 1.3M Pixel Webcam
Battery: 24WHr Lithium-Ion Battery (3-cell)
Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.1 module with EDR
Monitor: 10.1" Widescreen Display (1024x600)
Compaq Mini 311
OS: Windows XP SP3
Processor: Intel Atom Processor N270 @ 1.6GHz
Memory: 1GB DDR3
Video card: Nvidia ION LE
Hard drive: 160GB SATA 5400rpm
Wireless: 802.11b/g
Camera: Integrated webcam
Battery: 6 cell battery
Monitor: 11.6" HD LED w/BrightView (1366x768)
Graphics:
The Nvidia ION LE is a platform for the netbook in order to get some decent performance out of it. It uses a mobile GeForce 9400M.
Note: ION and ION LE are exactly same in spec except LE is designed for netbooks and does not support DX10.
Memory:
Compaq decided to go with DDR3 as it runs on lower voltage
1.5v on DDR3 and 1.8v on DDR2. Going DDR3 in a huge pay off (you'll find out at the bottom). On other sites (US,HK, etc) the HP Mini 311 (exactly the same as Compaq Mini 311) supports a max of 3GB. Not sure why the specs on the UK's site says 1GB.
Battery:
A typical netbook with 6 cell gets about 6-7 hours of battery life and that's with crappy Intel graphics. The 311 with 6 cell gives you about 5 1/2 hours (according to a review) but the what you got is better graphics (GeForce 9400M) and since it this netbook also uses DDR3 (which runs on lower voltages) it also adds up to extra battery life.
Screen:
11.6" is a major difference between 10.1" and at a higher resolution (1366x768 vs 1024x600), you get better real estate and less scrolling. |

My mistake, then. I don't really know the differences between a 6 cell battery and such. :\ Thanks for pointing it out. |

basic understanding is that the more cells you have the longer it lasts.
The ION LE ( Directx 10 is disabled) is a pretty decent card can be used effectively o yes and it rapes the GMA 950 up the ass. |
