Hmmm... You're making the same mistakes I did when I first started. Your shading is way to straight. A trident does not bend from center to back, but bends many ways.
You also need to shade corners, not just overal left to right shading.


If you don't, you'll always have these cardboard cutouts like you have.

mm, no it doesn't. It has the basic tools and is more convenient to work with. This is obviously my opinion but I used both and can realize that mspaint is missing a lot of things to make it easier to work with. Regardless, this thread is not about that so don't bother replying although I would suggest graphics gale.

As for the ''trident'' you should've followed my previous advice on the shading
