are you kidding me?

40c = 104 fever, aka hot, but not dangerous.

though, when I was younger, I remember clocking a 105 and by that point I was hallucinating.
well ur brain will start to shut down at over 103 and going over just increases the rate.

I've had a 104+ fever and my brain didn't "shut down".

I'm lucky, we don't have swine flu anywhere near where I live in Japan

Your brain cells do however start dying in the heat, so you should always put ice on your head when your sick. I keep a freezer in my room because my temperature is regularly over 37.2 (99 F). My fevers are insane.

Well then, you better pray the 549 confirm people in Japan does not live anywhere near you.

Note that the 549 are those who went to the hospital and are confirmed to have the swine flu. It is then reported to the WHO (World Health Organization). There could be lots more.

You must be living under a rock...

40C is not an overly dangerous temperature. Yes, its high, but nothing ridiculous. I've had 43C before and it didn't go past a bad fever.

It's probaby somewhat based on where you live. In Iceland if you get past 40 you're put in a hospital. X_x
Swine flu is just an ordinary flu. The reason we notice people dying and infected is because the whole world is looking for them. A lot of people die from ordinary flu each year, but this time around some health organizations are keeping tabs on everyone and it's reported and people are going nuts etc.

2 People at my high school apparently have it. They won't tell us who though. Probably for personal issues, but it is kind of important we know? We haven't even considered shutting down, because fucking Finals are this week, and its the last week!
