A screenshot would be helpful.

You can always convert a background to a layer by going to Layer > New > Layer from Background, when selecting the 'Background' layer, IIRC.

I meant a screenshot of the 'Layers' palette, or preferably, the entire Photoshop CS4 window. _________________
