The whole purpose of a Rubik's cube is defeated as soon as you are not the one to find out how to solve it.

It's like eating a Soccer ball and kicking around a steak.

Edit: No, I have never solved one.

Peeling off the stickers wears it down though, I've had mine for a few months and solve it a few times a day and now the plastic cover on the stickers is peeling. Some people pop out all the pieces and clean out the insides then lubricate it so they can solve it faster -_-

lols lubricate.

The farthest I ever got on the rubix's cube, was solving one and a half sides.
Cant ever solve the whole thing though.

Within one week of obtaining one, I solved it in 58 seconds.

I've gotten down to averaging 20 seconds per solve using the Fridrich Method. I've also solved a 4v4 and a Rubik’s Dodecahedron before, though I'm nowhere as fast as I am on my 3x3. I can also solve my 3x3 one-handed, though again not as fast.

I've bought my cubes from ebay. I would suggest getting a premade speedcube first, then getting a DIY later on if you're serious about speedcubing. I believe the shop I bought mine from was rubikfans.

I just got mine from Target..

It's incredibly stupid when people by a product specially made for practicing a skill. It's about your skill at it, not the quality of the tool you're using. Buying a thousand dollar pencil won't help you draw better.

I can solve my speedcube in average of 25 seconds, while I can only solve the one I got from a convenience store in 35 seconds at best. There's a definite difference when it comes to Rubik's cubes. My custom cube not only turns much smoother and faster than a store-bought cube, and also has better grip. I find it hard to do finger tricks on a store-bought cube as well, though it's not impossible. And... the price is not much greater. My custom cube was maybe $15 at most including new stickers and lubrication, while the cube I bought from a convenience store was $10.
EDIT: Of course, if your post is targeted as those just trying to solve the Rubik's cube, that's true. But if you're serious about speedcubing and getting a lower solve time, then getting a better cube helps a lot.

Only solve one side >_>

Anyway them ones with solid colors are for beginners, you guys need to get the ones with pictures on it and that adds a challenge where not only do you to get them on the right side, they also cannot be upside down (have one of those).
