You should be doing that monthly anyways and have everything backed up online or onto a external hard drive.

Not if you aren't backed up. Why do that if you could just fix the virus easily? That just makes things harder.

I don't know why people think that boredom is an end-all excuse for failure.

IAC, Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware is one of those False-Positive Whores that tell you you have like 'omg at lest30viriiperscanomg.'

You should have included links to virusscan.jotti.org or virustotal.

Firefox is only safest clean. There aren't many people who run firefox without bloating it with plug-ins. Opera is superior there.

Opera's phishing protection is great, the best out there.

Regardless. The best thing anyone can do is;

1. Know where the hell you're going when you get online.
2. Know what the hell they're downloading.
3. Use a secure browser.
4. Common sense and computer literacy. [Oh shit... this windows firewall thing is bothering me about viruses when it really isn't an anti-virus... wait.. what.]

Also, HJT.

Drive manufacturers measure Gigabytes as 1,000,000,000 bytes.

Real people and OSs measure Gigabytes as 1,073,741,824 bytes. (1024^3)

So don't think you are loosing as much as the space perceived by the Manufacturer - the amount the OS is telling you you've actually got.
