i don't think dual (or quad) screens works with SLi

I think you're correct on that one, but I'm not entirely sure.

I know with crossfire you can run multiple monitors, but once you switch into 3D mode it will disable all but the main monitor.

Correct.

For the other info, you could even lose preformance when using QUAD options. (with 9800GX2).

Don't go SLI with that card.
