| Shove a pen in it and hold it while you play crysis.

@cheetah
how else will i overclock it without flashing the bios? Any other way? ( not so familiar with different types of overclocking)
i dont think i can unplug the fan, as it says if it is modified they will not replace it..
also seems like the fan is unpluggable..
just on it |
I haven't used nVidia in a while, but I believe there's clock frequency settings in the nVidia control panel. If not, there's several overclocking programs you can use, though I can't remember any offhand(rivatuner?)

I will not be surprised if it tries to shut itself off before you fuck something up.
this is changeable in the drivers.

I don't think video cards shut down when they're hot like CPU's do. I know at least my 3870's didn't, the top one got to 101c with the stock cooler, and it still ran that way for several minutes without shutting down. Granted that's only 6 degrees above ATi's max thermal limit, but still...

I should have specified, but I'm pretty sure you can set the 'oh fuck shutdown' temperature in the drivers on nvidia cards.
Either that or it will just try to drop the clocks down until you get out of the oh shit territory. I can't remember.
At least though, you'd likely crash horribly first, which might be enough to save your ass.

If u turn off the fan, I think the worst thing that could happen, is restart/black screen.
I suggest u to adjust or the play with the volt. It'll burn, before it has the chance to restart/stop. Volt modding takes a bit effort, but having in mind that u will get a 5 times better card has worth it.

Yep, and if you get a hairdryer aimed at the heatsink of the video card, you'll speed up the process a lot.
