I would take what Snootae said and add this. GetAsyncKeyState is good for hotkeys local to the program, and by that I mean, your program needs focus for them to work (it doesn't actually create hotkeys). But if you are making a trainer for lets say MapleStory, you won't have your trainer in focus, so you would use RegisterHotKey so you don't need your program in focus because it's a system wide hotkey.

Well I don't know about in games but GetAsyncKeyState works without the form having to be in focus like I can have my program minimised and iTunes and internet explorer in front and I can still press for example F1 to bring it up.

Really, I thought you had to be in focus for GetAsyncKeyState to work...whatever then...

| GetAsyncKeyState gets the key state, its not an event or a message, gets the state of the key when its called. |
