they are tv like (i guess normal tube style)
I've always had my speakers in the same place. Haven't moved them. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary.

How can i tell if my video card is "out"

Judging by your symptoms I'm still almost certain it's monitor related, especially with it being a CRT. Have you been able to try a known-working cable? One of the cathodes in your CRT could be dying, though that generally is a slow and gradual process, and wouldn't flicker back in and out.

I'm not positive if either of them worked, but now both do not work. The second one was fine until today where it is now completely dulled and orange shaded. The first one was about 90% orange shaded.

How can I tell if it's my graphics card or my monitor? that's the problem lol

oh yeah it's not like I can just change cords. They are built in to the monitor so I wouldn't be able to try one with the other monitor.

I'd guess it is the port on your computer then, that's basically what it narrows down to.

Check to see if any of the little wires are bent, if so, try to straighten them out.

You know we could do the same thing to you.
Example:
How in the hell can your post be right and we are stupid coming from someone who doesnt know how to change an icon in a program.
Doesnt feel good does it? Lets think about what we say before acting an ass ok?

Im with Cheetah, the video card is going out or monitor or even cable is bung. Unless it happens to be a mac and you post is the solution.

That would not solve the problem at all, and that isn't a color inverting button combination, stupid. Just like a certain button combo on Windows, that is just 'High Contrast' mode.

Its not a software issue, I would have thought that was obvious by now elpacco.
Its a hardware issue, either the monitor cable or the CRT display itself. Its still hard to tell because of the limited info we are receiving and the way its been troubleshooted.

And video card..... CRt or cable yup.
Also, the mother board could be fuxing up on agp slot or pci what ever one he is using.
IF it is a normal pci i would try swapping the card to another one to see what happens, and or take the video card out and use a pencil eraser and clean the contacts on it and plug it back in to see if it helps.
Worth a shot i guess.

okay I think I may have found the problem.

There is a prong missing in the cable of the 1st monitor I used.

What I don't get is how that can cause the other monitor to also turn to the orange shade.. i don't know if the prong is now stuck in holes where I plug it in.

I actually have an old crt monitor with a couple missing wires at the end of the cable, and it works fine.

It depends on what pin broken.
But that could be the reason it is doing that maybe.
Pins:
* 1- Red
* 2- Green
* 3- Blue
* 4- ID bit
* 5- no connection
* 6- Red Ground
* 7- Green Ground
* 8- Blue Ground
* 9- no connection
* 10- Ground
* 11- ID bit
* 12- ID bit
* 13- Horizontal Sync
* 14- Vertical Sync
* 15- no connection
