When you unplug your internet is when you stop dettings most of your viruses and spyware. When you isolate your computer from everything is when you know you are 100% safe.

get windows vista..it is perfect for firewall and anti virus...+download nod32
VISTA SECURITY +NOD32=99.99%safe...everytime i download virus file ot trojan file NOD32 detects it and delete it imiddantly...it is perfect=D^^
but never download untrust files...to be safe...av sucks anyway...slow scanning...eats too mcuh ram...nod32 eats almost no ram..and its better..
anyway i dont have to buy the nod32 coz i have the crack version i still have 14440days trial period..hahah lol |

that will only prevent hackers attacking ur computer
doesn't necessarily mean it safe from VIRUS that aleady got into ur computer

Assuming the computer is clean to start with, and isolated from any network, provided no memory sticks/optical storage (any external media) is ever placed into contact with the machine, then yeah you'll have the best chance you can have.
Some people prefer to have a second computer sitting in between their 'production' machine and their access point. This computer will provide the extra security needed.
Also, there may be a 'honeypot' setup, which is purposely visibile to any potential hackers, and it draws their attention away, hiding any othr devices that may be connected. Some would say this setup is overkill, but a lot of people swear by it, and with the internet in its current state, you can't blame them  |

Vista is the biggest pile of shit Microsoft has ever laid. The only reason vista is "more secure" than XP is because it won't let you run half of any programs you download/write.
To add insult onto injury, "AV" means Anti Virus. If you're thinking of "AVG", "AVG" means "Anti Virus by Grisoft", "AV" means "Anti Virus". Big difference.
And lastly, I find Kaspersky more efficient. I'm currently running a virus scan and it's using only 25,000KB of RAM.
