I'm not sure what the state is with comcast, but I wouldn't be suprised if they do what a lot of User-heavy ISP's do, and that is to throttle, or in other words restrict traffic, especially during heavy-downloading hours. Which nowadays is pretty much any time of day should the ISP have an 'unlimited' package.
A lot also block ports, or purposefully slow users that seem to be sending/recieving traffic on the higher port-ranges, which are usually indicative of bittorrent connections.
Sad, but true. Then again you can't complain, its all in an attempt to stop illegal stuff...what are they supposed to do... |

But if you live in like NW New York, your comcast probably sucks because of mountains and shit... I dunno...
It sort of works like cell phone reception. |
Near Philadelphia? Like Upper Darby? _________________

Comcast has been throttling people's p2p downloads, and it's been causing quite a bit of drama needless to say.
Try www.speedtest.net and check your speed there. |

I had Comcast for about 5 years. Honestly... They sucked after about 3 years. Eventually, after 2 years of fighting between me and Comcast, never getting anything more than "Reset your router", I decided to just switch to Embarq.
Turns out the idiots that repaired the line after hurricane Charley did a horrible job, the lines were basically a complete tangle of wires, according to Embarq, who had to put in a new line because of how bad it was.
Anyway, I'm paying ~$20 a month less than I was. With the service I have now, speedtest.net shows between 3MBps and 8MBps, where as with Comcast I had at best 1.5MBps.
The problem was probably only the shitty repair job after Charley, but Comcast was far too ignorant to admit, for once, that it might be something on their side causing the slow, unreliable Internet connection I experienced.
Their loss. _________________
