FX series cards were so awful in DX9 it was ridiculous. They even default to DX8 in source engine games.
Try 5-10 fps on high settings. |
Thats highly wrong. I have a FX5200 256mb and it RECOMMENDED my settings on high and i get 45-60 fps.... Thats for most source games too.
Hell, i have an even worse CPU then drkgodz.

You literally can't even run the game on the highest settings. It's probably using the DX8 renderer.
5200's were getting abysmal performance under DX9. The FX series was considered a complete and utter failure. It wasn't uncommon to see 9800's dropping close to double the FPS in DX9 titles.

well if ur using XP...most computer need a GeForce video card..
go get GeForce 8400 or 8600 |
Once again you prove you know absolutely nothing. The amount of memory has very little effect on performance, it's the last thing you should care about when buying a card.
XP does NOT require an nVidia (or GeForce as you like to mistakenly label it) card, any OS can run nVidia or ATi cards just fine.
To the thread starter, you need a new computer, period. Your CPU is below the minimum requirement for the game, and you have no AGP slots. If you put a video card in your PCI slot, it will not only be overpriced, but it will run exteremely slowly, and slow down the entire system due to flooding the PCI bus. Putting any more money into that system is a waste and won't bring any tangible benefit in the first place. That's assuming the PSU can even handle the extra draw of a video card, and don't count on that.

You're overlooking something. I had an FX5500 that could barely run even old games on medium settings. It was by far the worst graphics card I've ever owned, and I can't even begin to imagine how much the 5200 would suck on old games, let alone modern ones.
