That is basically a 10/10. Good job Jak. With the extra money that is left over you would definitely want to upgrade your graphics card. I looked around to. So its safe to say this is the best one.

For your needs, 5/10, horrible gaming performance (on games such as Crysis), but the dual core processor helps. It's not especially fast either.
Price to performance not including gaming is average at that range. It would be better to trade off a few gigabytes of disk space for a better CPU or GPU.
I like this one more (if you can put out another $200 for 2 more cores, and an 8800GT): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8649386&type=product&id=1195599475702

I think you're totally wrong, it will cost 300-400 dollars more just for that, i don't think he wants to get into games like crysis although if he wants to he can just upgrade his graphics card and it will run faster. The computer should run fast because of the processor and RAM.

Well, you should be able to play games like WoW, Guildwars, Counter-Strike:Source, Hellgate:London, and all the other games, but you should upgrade your graphics card in the future.
Edit: I give that computer a 10/10 too.

That first PC mentioned from bestbuy, the Pavilion Media Center, is complete TRASH.
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE with TurboCache and DirectX 10 support
Thats integrated.
You have to be kidding me.
WAYYY overpriced.
Ok, but anyways, If you want a good computer for a relatively low price, build it.
For $800 you can get this.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2271782,00.asp
CPU Core 2 Duo E6550 $170 (Compare Prices)
Motherboard ASUS P5K Pro $132
Memory Corsair TWIN2X 2048 6400 $75 (Compare Prices)
Graphics EVGA GeForce 9600 GT SSC $180 (Compare Prices)
Sound Card Integrated NA
Hard drive Seagate 7200.10 160GB $53 (Compare Prices)
Optical Drive Lite-On LH-20A4P $30 (Compare Prices)
Case Cooler Master Centurion RC-534 $80 (Compare Prices)
Power Supply Cooler Master 430W (incl. with case) NA
Operating system Windows XP Home $74
Total $794
DO NOT be fooled by the hard drive, as a computer sub-noob, you will NEVER fill it up.
Slap on a 20" monitor for $180. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009108
Edit: Oh yeah, and@the kid who posted before me, Microsoft doesn't make computers genius, they make software/operating systems.
Edit 2: Building a computer is pretty dang easy.
