I disagree, its really nice. Plus it really doesn't make it sluggish, but after I put the usage meter widget on, I feel like I'm killing my computer.

i reckon Vista's GUI kicks ass. i ran Vista Business off my laptop - ASUS A9RP - which isn't a big computer, and Vista didn't seem sluggish to me. i only downgraded back to XP because of some dodgy Vista drivers.

vista is basically still in testing phase. It needs a lot of work before measuring up to XP. Even with Microsoft's new release, XP is still #1. When they finally release a version that has no compatibility issues and one that isn't so buggy, then and only then will it step on XP and crush it

I'll agree that Wine isn't the best for running programs and games of the sort, but Crossover is for Linux as well. If you have both Wine and Crossover installed on Linux, you can run probably 95% of apps. I've been using just Linux, no dual boot or anything, for the past 2 or so months. During the first month and a half, I had some issues getting things working, but after I got everything all set up and figured out, it works like a charm.

One of the reasons besides the other reasons stated in this thread about Macs is that they're just way too overpriced to make it anywhere in the practical market. I mean, come on, Apple is good at making iPods, not computers.

It's going to be a tough battle though, between Linux and Windows operating systems.

While I agree that Linux definitely has the potiental to become a major competitor to Windows, I think the biggest issue is stubborn people. They want something familiar, not to have to learn something new. I believe that will be the biggest hurdle for Linux.

Agreed. It's like Internet Explorer users. They don't believe how horrible IE is. They're too stubborn and ignorant to switch over to Firefox or even Opera. They want something to get the job done, not something efficient.

Macs are WAY too overpriced. Probably the only advantage to them is immunity to viruses. In case you haven't seen Linux before, I recorded it and uploaded it to youtube, but that was before I got my huge ass monitor, so bear with me...

Don't mind my voice; it was originally me showing it to my friends, but I guess it has served other purposes throughout its uptime on Youtube.

There are more viruses for Windows than there are for Macs, A LOT MORE! so the chances of getting a harmful virus on a Mac OS is very slim.
