Are you kidding me? Linux can emulate most of what XP can run. I've emulated games with no FPS loss at all. DirectX9 works perfectly too. There's only one thing you'll need to top off Linux: Crossover. Crossover is, by far, the best emulation program for Linux. I've run Steam with it, F.E.A.R., Half-Life series, Counter-Strike:Source, and basically every game on Steam. Crossover is very reliable when it comes to that. And, even with all the neat effects of Linux, it takes up MUCH less memory than XP or Vista and is much more efficient at processing data and information. You don't even need a good computer, fast GPU, or that much RAM to run Linux with all the cool stuff. Just some googling on how to do it is all you need.

I played Source on Crossover.. I got about 9FPS and everytime someone threw a grenade or got a headshot the game crashed.

Did you have that same performance when you had Windows? I didn't get a performance change when I switched from Vista to Linux. I've kept my 140 FPS on 1680x1050 with max settings.

well i have three hard drives, one with vista, one with osx leopard, and one with linux, I honestly enjoy vista and leopard more than Linux Ubuntu.

If those are your only choices, I say go with xp
