It's good, but the prices are wrong, and the cost is above 700.

the black editions dont come with coolers, so you'll need to get an aftermarket cooler, too.

Bah. Fine. Looks like I'll have to throw out the X2 5000 in favor of a dual/quad core.
I have no idea where to begin, though Confused

why the hell has that PC got a floppy drive? i've never seen a DVD and internal floppy drive together on one computer.

That was in my "optional" section
It's one of those things I may or may not add later. And the computer I have now has both, so there Wink

well if you plan on overclocking then you'd need an aftermarket cooler anyhow, and the 5000 is great for overclocking since its multipliers are unlocked.

I suppose that's fair. Although I do think a fan + X2 5000 is better bang for the buck than a pricy dual/quad core.

BTW: Change your avatar

those actually run pretty cool from what I seen of x2 5000

for some reason Agu123 seems to talk shit in this forum mistaking it for random spam

ROFL! Shocked
*faints*

shows how much I actually know about these things Embarassed

Anyway, looks like I'll be going X2 5000 BE after all.
Still trying to figure out how to accomodate the extra cost of the additional coolers

He's probably comparing them to the Intel CPU's and mistaken the "Duo" for "Dual".

Not exactly sure what you mean... Intel Core 2 Duo = Dual Core Processor...?

Anway...
Anyone have any experience with thermal compounds? (I.E. What they're for?) All the reviews seem pretty positive.

if you get amd's they usually come with the heatsink/fan with a block of thermal compound stuck to the heatsink already

if you are getting one of those 65mn brisbanes they run at about 52 deg centegrade... 125.6 deg Fahrenheit

http://xtreview.com/review167.htm

the fan that comes with it will do the job

Don't buy anything for now. New hardware coming out, the Penryn processors! More power, same price (a couple of months after release). Also wait till the 9 series of nVidia comes out, 'cos you're gonna be bummed when you have the 'latest' GFX and then a new one comes out. Wink

That's because AMD tries to lower the costs of their processors, and they know that if they supply the heatsink and the fan, they probably wouldn't be used.
