No it isn't, Metro is mentioned in like every "suggest me games" thread. I never see anyone talk about this movie. And I had heard of this movie anyway, I just never bothered to watch it till now, whereas KMC had never heard of the game...

Metro 2033 is better. Though it's difficult to compare them since they're both so different.
