I know desktops are generally better for gaming, but in my case I need a laptop. I need something good for around $800-$1000. Any good ideas?

they actually had one on sale last week their g53 series it had decent specs for under 1 grand

Gogo, I love Alienware, but their laptops are terrible compared to other gaming laptops... I'm sorry.
@OP MSI, definitely a recommendation.
I have an MSI GT683R and it's just so lovely. Never overheats (for me at least), beast of a cooling system.

Also you'll never have to crack Windows on it, for whatever reason, even if you completely wipe your hard-drive and do a fresh reinstall. The laptop knows.
