Just came across this while trying to make an Iron Door.
Does not screw up your save file for all I know, I've tested it, though under different circumstances it may.
Also cannot be placed.

It's a button or something, i can't remember

Yes, they can be used to light a fuse for TNT, they can also do something else i forgot
